The Art of Exploration
30th August 2025
A one-day workshop in person with Levison Wood
Step away from the everyday and join Levison Wood for an intimate, one-day creative retreat in the wilds of Devon. The Art of Exploration is a small-group experience combining walking, storytelling, and a personal workshop where you’ll learn how Levison plans expeditions, crafts his books, and brings adventures to life.
creative workshop
An intimate group workshop where I’ll share how I plan expeditions, craft stories, and turn ideas into reality.
walk with me
We’ll explore the stunning Devon coast, tracing paths where ideas and conversations unfold naturally.
Secure Your Place
This is a one-off opportunity, limited to just 15 people. Once the spaces are filled, there won’t be another workshop until next year.
If you’ve ever wanted to walk alongside me, ask your own questions, and learn the behind-the-scenes of how I approach exploration, writing, and creativity, this is it.

Here is a closer look at what the day will look like
Throughout the day, I’ll be sharing insights into how I’ve planned expeditions, crafted books, and developed ideas that have taken me across the world. You’ll learn how I approach storytelling, from scribbled field notes to published works, and how to bring your own creative projects to life, whether that’s a journey, a book, or something entirely different.
We’ll gather at a private spot near Wembury Beach, a 20-minute drive from Plymouth Station. We will open the day with a short welcome talk, setting the tone for what’s to come: a day of shared stories, big questions, and personal reflection.
We’ll embark on a 7-8km walk from Wembury to Mount Batten, a part of the famous South West Coast Path. This stretch is dramatic, yet peaceful, perfect for unfiltered conversations as we trace the cliffs, discover hidden coves, and pause at striking viewpoints.
We’ll gather in a quiet spot overlooking the bay for a relaxed Lunch. This will be a free-flowing conversation where I will answer your questions - whether about writing, pitching projects, navigating media, or planning your own expeditions.
After a guided morning walk, we’ll sit down for an intimate creative workshop where we’ll talk through:
The art of turning personal experiences into stories.
Planning and pitching expeditions or creative projects.
Navigating the challenges of working in the adventure space.
A free-flowing Q&A where you can ask me anything.
But more than that, this day will be shaped by you, the people in the group, and the paths you’re walking. There’ll be no cameras, no scripts, just a personal, open environment to share ideas and gain clarity on your own journey.
Everyone who joins will receive an Explorer’s Field Pack, and you will also receive a signed copy of my book, The Art of Exploration - a guide to curiosity, leadership, and getting things done.
This is a one-off event. There will be no repeat date this year, and places are limited to just 15.
